The engagement of Kate Middleton to Prince William was announced last week, after he had proposed to her 10,500m up Mount Kenya, in a lakeside cabin last month. Kate had written in the visitor's book, before leaving, that she "loved the warm fires and candlelight", describing the proposal as "so romantic". The ring that he presented her with, was the engagement ring of his late mother's, Princess Diana or Wales, which was a Sapphire and diamond ring. After the elegance and beauty of Diana's wedding, and her caring personality, Kate and her new fiance now have a large pair of shoes to fill.
In light of this romantic occasion, I have decided to take a look at past royal and iconic weddings, that Kate may perhaps take influence from.
Marilyn Monroe marries Jim Doherty, Los Angeles, 19th June 1942.
Audrey Hepburn in Balmain to marry Mel Ferrer in Switzerland, 25th September 1954.
Princess Grace Kelly wears a Helen Rose dress to Marry Prince Rainer of Monaco, 1956.
Princess Margaret in Norman Hartnell to marry Earl of Snowdon Anthony Armstrong-Jones in Westminster Abbey, London, 1961.
Priscilla Presley in her own design to marry Elvis Presley, Las Vegas, 1st May 1967.
Princess Diana in Elizabeth Emanuel to marry Prince Charles, 29th July 1981.
In the first Sex and the City film, Carie Bradshaw wears Vivienne Westwood to marry Big, 2008.
As for Kate Middleton's wedding dress, I can not WAIT to see it!!! And I hope her wedding is absolutely magical . . .
